Montagna Travel

Hand-built European cycling trips.

How we work

Montagna Travel is the confluence of three obsessions: in hospitality, in sport, in love with the road. Our trips are the outcome.

Every Montagna trip is private and designed for one group: your group. Where you ride, who's driving the support van, what's on the table at dinner. All of it is built around what your group wants. We take time planning a trip because we'd rather get it right than get it scheduled.

The level of detail and customization of a Montagna trip runs further than people expect: not just route and hotels but the tempo of Tuesday's climb, the wine the chef pairs at dinner, the day the rest moves to if the weather turns. None of it is from a template. Our guests' job is to show up and ride.

Four facets of every trip.

Where we go

Some of the places we know best.

We've spent years in these regions, riding the roads, vetting the hotels, knowing who the truly passionate chefs are.

What you see here is inspiration, not a menu of destinations. Wherever your group has been dreaming of riding, we'll plan it.

Italian Alps

The Dolomites

The four passes of the Sella Ronda in a day. Pale rock, quiet roads, villages that still feel local. Our home range, best ridden June through September.

Lombardy + Piedmont

Italian Lakes

Lago d'Iseo, Como, Garda. The Madonna del Ghisallo above Bellagio. Climbs out of every village, espresso at the bottom. Spring and autumn are the best windows.

Balearic Islands

Mallorca

Sa Calobra, Puig Major, the Tramuntana coast. Smooth tarmac and a January-to-April window that keeps Northern European cyclists riding through winter.

Bern + Vaud

Swiss Alps

Gstaad, the Diablerets, the Col du Pillon. Cool air, alpine pastures, and the kind of quiet most mountain regions lost a generation ago.

Italy

Tuscany

Strade bianche between cypress hills. A Brunello tasting in Montalcino. Rolling rather than climbing-heavy. The food carries the trip.

France + Spain

Pyrenees

Tourmalet, Aubisque, Aspin. The Tour de France classics, paced right, with a van for the gravel sections and the long descents.
